— Rabies Vaccination Policy -

We require proof of current rabies vaccination for all pets visiting the salon. We need to be able to verify the expiration date, which, unfortunately means the tag doesn't cut it. Bummer, we know. You may bring a physical copy for us to collect the expiration date, or Rabies paperwork can be emailed to:

Rabies vaccination is the law, and it keeps all of us safe!

- Cancellations & No-shows -

We understand that life happens! However, Late Cancellations and No-Shows affect our staff, our clients, and take a valuable spot that could have been given to a pet on our waitlist. We respectfully request 24 hours notice for any cancellation or schedule changes.

Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a late cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled service(s).

No-Shows and Appointments cancelled same day are subject to 100% of the scheduled service(s).

- Late appointments & No-shows -

We will do our best to accommodate those running late to appointments. However, if you are running more than 10-15 minutes late we cannot guarantee that we will have adequate time to complete the scheduled service. Those running more than 30 minutes late may be considered a No-Show and charged 100% of the scheduled service price. If you are running late please contact us so that we may plan accordingly.

- Stored card information -

In lieu of a non-refundable deposit, we do require a card to be kept on file to secure your scheduled appointment time. The card is not charged at the time of scheduling, but is kept on file and can be used to pay at pickup if requested!

- Matting -

Matting is described as densely tangled clumps of fur in a pet's coat. If a coat is not properly and/or frequently brushed, loose and live hair become embedded in large masses. Sometimes mats can be combed out, but if left too long, can hide or cause adverse medical conditions.

Removing matting can be difficult and painful for the pet. The safest and most effective way to remove matting is to shave the pelted coat away from the skin. The process of removing matting may cause or reveal underlying conditions impossible to see below the coat.** We will always do our best to safely remove all matting while keeping the pet as comfortable as possible. Matting or excessive tangling may result in additional grooming fees.

**As the Fur Flies is not responsible for any adverse affects caused by matt removal. In certain cases we may refer matted pets to veterinarian.

- Ear plucking & Anal gland Expression -

We do perform ear plucking and anal gland expression (externally) on a case by case basis. These services are only performed only upon request on healthy dogs. As these can become matters of internal medicine outside of our scope of practice, we may at any point deny these services as we see necessary.

We do not advise over plucking the ears, and we will not pluck ears that seem to be irritated or infected in any capacity.

Anal gland expression can benefit dogs that have trouble expressing naturally. However, expressing anal glands too frequently may affect a dogs ability to express their glands naturally - and in some cases can do more harm than good.

We always recommend talking to your veterinarian about your pets specific needs!

- Can my pet stay all Day? -

As much as we love your pets, we cannot keep them for extended periods of time. This helps keep the salons calm and quiet for our four legged guests all day long! We will provide you with an update when your pet has 30 minutes of their appointment left, and we respectfully request prompt pickup within 45 minutes of the completed groom. We reserve the right to charge a daycare fee for pets left at the salon for an excessive period of time (1 hour or more from completed groom) as we see fit.

- How old does my puppy need to be for grooming? -

The sooner you can start getting your puppy groomed, the better! We typically suggest scheduling your puppy to come in after their second round of vaccines. The more frequently you bring your young puppy in, the more comfortable they will be throughout their lives! We suggest scheduling as many puppy introduction grooms as possible before your pup turns 5 months, and then scheduling a full groom after that. Ideally, your pup will have had at least 3-4 puppy introduction grooms before 5 months. We will not force a puppy older than 5 months through a full groom if they haven’t been professionally groomed before or they are not comfortable.

- Do you groom Cats? -

Absolutely! Cats benefit from regular grooming, just like dogs. They need nail trims, bathing, and brushing, The process is similar, but cats do require knowledgeable handling to ensure the safety of both the cat and the groomer.

We are members of the National Cat Groomers Institute of America, certified in Pet First Aid and CPR, Fear Free Certified Professionals, and we keep up with the latest in feline grooming techniques and information.
